Kansans Can

"Kansas Will Lead The World In The Success Of Each Student!"

kansans can logo

Kansans are demanding higher standards in academic skills, as well as employability and citizenship skills, and the need to move away from a “one-size-fits-all” system that relies exclusively on state assessments. This KSDE vision for education calls for a more student-focused system that provides support and resources for individual success and will require everyone to work together to make it a reality.

ESSDACK supports the Kansans Can vision by:

  • partnering with KSDE leaders and staff to roll out training initiatives around the state
  • aligning all ESSDACK professional learning opportunities to the vision
  • assisting school districts in positioning their accreditation efforts
  • participating in the annual Kansans Can and Do symposium hosted by the seven members of the KAESA
  • hosting an annual Career and Post-Secondary Planning event to help students understand their Post-Secondary education options and the Businesses that will potentially hire them - http://careerexpo.essdack.org
  • creating an online marketplace for career focused courses - http://careercourses.org

In support of Kansas’ vision for education, the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) has launched the Kansans Can School Redesign Project.  Twenty-nine Kansas school districts applied for the Kansans Can Redesign Project. However, only seven could be selected.  The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) developed the Gemini Project and offered the remaining districts an opportunity to take part in the project on a smaller scale.
